About Brittany Barksdale
I received a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy both from Abilene Christian University. After graduating in 2015, I have worked in a variety of settings ranging from private practice to behavioral health hospitals to the kindergarten classroom! I work from a systems based perspective which means I look at how different parts of the system influence and interact with one another. Using that information, we will work to reach one's desired goals. My goal is to partner with my clients in order to support and empower them as they navigate life’s challenges in order to become their most authentic selves. I hope to create a safe and collaborative space where you feel supported and encouraged to explore your feelings, gain insight, and develop the necessary coping skills to reach your goals. I have experience working with a wide variety of presenting problems from anxiety and depression, to relational wounds and communication, as well as difficulties in self esteem, worth, and identity. I have additional training in couples and family therapy, helping individuals and their loved ones work towards healthy communication, expressing and meeting needs, as well as enhancing overall connection in the relationship. Having the experience of teaching in a kindergarten classroom gives me a unique perspective on the challenges both students and parents are facing in the school-aged season, which also aids me in my work with families. I am so excited and grateful to get to walk alongside you on your therapeutic journey!
