About Kathryn

Welcome! My name is Kathryn and I am so glad you are here! Life can be so hard and we all struggle from time to time. Maybe you feel overwhelmed, frightened, discouraged, or alone. Maybe you’re trying your best, but sometimes it just doesn’t seem like enough. Maybe you are facing difficult life transitions or just need a place to explore being authentically you. Whatever your current challenges, my hope for you is that this can be a safe place for you to find hope and peace in the midst of the struggles of life. My passion and joy is to come alongside others to walk with them through life’s challenges as they learn, explore, and grow.

This passion has been a core part of me for as long as I can remember and often throughout my life, I have felt drawn to help those in need. This led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology followed by a Master’s Degree in Counseling, both from UNT. My upbeat, playful nature and love for children led me to study play therapy in my Master’s program. Following graduation, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas before becoming an Approved Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselor Associates in the state of Texas.

For the past 14 years, I have enjoyed working with individuals of all ages struggling with a variety of challenges across many different settings. Whether working in inpatient facilities, community mental health centers, private practice, or crisis intervention settings, I have enjoyed walking alongside individuals of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, trauma, grief, crisis situations, abuse recovery and more in order to help them find a greater sense of peace and joy in their daily lives.

My approach is eclectic and I use a variety of interventions to meet the needs of those I encounter. Some of my favorite approaches are talk, sandtray and activity therapy, and play therapy in individual and group settings. I work to tailor interventions to your needs. My theoretical orientation is Adlerian in nature which emphasizes the role of social relationships, goal directed behavior, and a sense of belonging as contributors to health and well being. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialetical Behavioral Therapy and crisis intervention as well as Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. I am also able to offer supervision services for Licensed Professional Counselor Associates. As a Christian, I value the role of spirituality and will strive to incorporate matters of faith as they apply to you if desired. I have a unique passion for and understanding of the specific needs of first responders, front line workers, and their loved ones as well as families and individuals with special needs. I’d love to hear from you and join together with you on your journey, so give me a call today! Working together, we can overcome obstacles!
