About Devin Carr

My primary therapeutic background and where I fell in love with serving families is through Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) within MHMR of Tarrant County. ECI provides developmental support for infants, toddlers (age 0-3 years) and their families facing a variety of challenges that come along with developmental delays and disabilities. My role in ECI was an Early Intervention Specialist (EIS) where I saw a variety of cases including speech and communication delays, social emotional concerns and challenging behaviors, ASD, attachment wounds associated with being in foster care, as well as early childhood trauma exposure. As an EIS, I worked on a close knit multidimensional team of phenomenal speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nutritionists, and mental health consultants. With these professionals, I received hands-on training and ongoing support in how to provide the best guidance and support to families in our community.

It is a joy bringing my treasured experience and training into the private practice setting! Here at Steady Heart, I am able to combine my ECI experience with my family therapy skills and modalities to serve families on another level. My desire to become a family therapist originates from my time in ECI while delivering Specialized Skills Training services directly to children and their caregivers. I’ve seen countless caregivers learn to thrive in their role as confident leaders for their children in all areas of life! Seeing change and healing happen when caregivers are coached and empowered to meet their child’s individualized needs with just a little boost from a professional lens is so sweet to see. Now in private practice, I can deliver therapy services to individuals and families of all ages in our comfy office setting and playroom.

As a therapist, much of my focus lies in setting our youngest and most vulnerable population up for success from the earliest moments possible in the context of family and community. With this in mind, addressing full family needs and promoting client autonomy and independence are my top priorities. I take a collaborative approach while working together with clients to rewrite stories and create space for honoring past experiences while moving towards healing and growth. My hope is to empower and equip the people I serve so they can thrive to their fullest potential and ensure life is flowing through their relationships in the long-term. I employ a variety of techniques and strategies depending on the client's individualized needs. It is my joy and honor to join you in your journey forward!
